After last playing in the NBA in the 2011-2012 season, Chinese forward-center Yi JianLian may have his chance to make a comeback in the league.

He is reportedly being pursued by the Los Angeles Lakers according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

The 7'0″ big man spent five years in the NBA for three different teams, the New Jersey Nets, Washington Wizards, and the Milwaukee Bucks, who picked him sixth overall in the 2007 draft. It can be recalled that he was even selected ahead of Joakim Noah and Marc Gasol as he was one of the most highly-touted prospects that year.

After bouncing around the league and not being able to showcase his true potential, he decided to go back to China and play professionally in the CBA. Yi signed with the Guangdong Southern Tigers and has been a major force ever since.

The 28-year-old was seen recently playing for his home country in this year's summer games. Although they were not able to win a game and were eliminated in the group stages, Yi made a good account of himself as he led all forwards in the tournament in scoring with 20.4 points per game.

Should he sign with the Lakers, he will definitely add depth to their frontcourt with the likes of Julius RandleLarry Nance, Jr., and Timofey Mozgov. The team currently has 13 players signed and still have two remaining roster spots open.

UPDATE: According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Lakers are finalizing a one-year deal with Jianlian for around $8 million. More details to come.
