Larry Nance, Jr. is known for his dunking. It's in his blood even.

But he doesn't see himself that way. Not anymore, at least.

Nance surprisingly doesn't like his chances if he were to enter the dunk contest, saying this, via ESPN:

“I've always maintained that at some point, I would love to,” Nance said. “I just don't know when. I don't know if it's this year. I don't know if it's next year. I don't know at this point. I've just got to be ready.”

“Honestly, if they threw me in one right now, I'd get last place, because I have no idea what I would do,” Nance said. “It would just take a lot of planning, which I haven't [done]. Instead of worrying about dunks, I'm trying to figure out my jump shot and stuff like that.”

Of course it's better that Nance is currently working on more important aspects of his game. Sure, dunking is something he specializes in during games but for a contest's sake, it's not worth it right now for him to try to hone those skills.

Nance's posters have garnered him more attention and he may want to consider pleasing the Lakers fans by competing. He has the athleticism to maybe win one, but just needs to put the time in working on a strategy.
