The Detroit Lions signed Adrian Peterson following his release from the Washington Football Team and his new teammates have been starstruck ever since he arrived. Kerryon Johnson, who will be competing for touches with the veteran running back, claims that it's ‘very weird' being teammates with Peterson.

“Quite frankly it’s weird,” Johnson said, via Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press. “Just watching this dude for so long. He’s been doing this ever since he was in college — the guy’s been great. He’s going to be a for-sure Hall-of-Famer and I get to sit next to him in meetings. And he’s trying to learn things from me and I’m trying to learn things from him. But I’m like, ‘What do I have to offer?’ You know what I’m saying? Just because he’s been there, done everything that I can say. So it’s very weird.”

When Peterson came into the NFL in 2007, Johnson was only 10 years old. The Auburn product recalls watching Peterson play at Oklahoma and is now in awe that they are teammates. Besides Johnson, offensive guard Frank Ragnow also shared his excitement on getting a chance to play alongside Peterson.

Peterson has defied the odds at the running back position, playing until he is 35 years old in 2020. Heading into the 2020 season, Peterson is the fifth all-time leading rusher and is poised to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame after he retires from the NFL.

Despite his age, Adrian Peterson figures to share the workload in Detroit with Johnson and rookie D'Andre Swift. While Johnson will be vying for carries alongside Peterson, he still can't believe that he can call Peterson his teammate.
