The Los Angeles Lakers are refusing to stay at the Trump Hotel, located in Soho, during their visit in New York City due to security concerns.

Ever since Donald Trump was elected as President of the United States, there have been multiple protests taking place that have to do with anything Trump related.

The Los Angeles Lakers are somewhat concerned about their safety if they decided to stay at the hotel named after Donald Trump, due to the threats of protest, as well as the potential of the players' schedules being disrupted by such activities.

The team stated that their decision to not stay at the Trump Hotel is not politically motivated. NBA teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Dallas Mavericks made a decision to choose not to stay in the Trump Hotel due to political reasons.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry, as well as Lebron James have all made public statements about not staying at a hotel that was associated with Trump. Although, this specific situation with the Lakers was not politically motivated, it makes some people wonder how many more professional teams are going to avoid the Trump Hotel due to the threat of their schedules being messed up because of protest, and or the players and owners deciding against it.
