G2 Esports CEO Carlos Rodriguez officially confirmed that they've signed Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.

Through a tweet, the G2 CEO welcomed the 16-year-old CSGO prodigy to their team, confirming their acquisition of m0NESY from Natus Vincere Junior.

m0NESY will now be part of the G2 roster, but given that the French organization hasn't actually released anyone yet from their current lineup, it's still up to speculation on who the young AWPer will be replacing. The announcement was made just shortly before ropz's move from MOUZ to FaZe Clan was officially recognized by the NA organization. The young Russian prodigy will be entering his third year as a professional CSGO player this 2022.

G2 Esports currently is in a rebuilding period, which explains their interest in a 16-year-old academy player. m0NESY is definitely a strong addition to the team's lineup, who currently has a 1.35 HLTV rating. G2 Esports previously placed 2nd in November's PGL Major Stockholm 2021, finishing just behind Natus Vincere's main roster. Clearly, G2's strategy in finally overtaking their CSGO rivals is by taking away their young talent and grooming them as their own. Well played, G2. Well played. May your gambit bear fruit in the upcoming majors this year.
