With the regular season already in its final two weeks, teams that are not headed to the playoffs are now shifting their focus on changes they'll have to make to improve their rosters come summertime. One of those teams is the Dallas Mavericks, who will look to add key pieces through the draft or free agency to help them find more success next season.

The team's owner, Mark Cuban, understands what position they need to address, as he admitted that they need a point guard that has the mindset of setting up his teammates first. Although the Mavs already have J.J. Barea, Devin Harris and Yogi Ferrell in their rotation, they are all scoring guards and tend to contribute more with points rather than assists. The 58-year-old billionaire knows the addition of a pass-first point guard will do wonders for his team, especially with the other scorers they have in the lineup.

After their very slow start to the season, the Mavericks were able to string a few wins together and even gave themselves a shot to make it to the playoffs. However, they fell short of their goal and will miss the postseason for only the second time in the last 17 years.

Should they be successful in adding the type of point guard they've always wanted, it will instantly bolster their lineup and help their core to produce higher scoring numbers. With Harrison Barnes, Nerlens Noel, Wesley Matthews and Dirk Nowitzki, all capable of scoring in bunches during games, it will definitely make their future playmaker's job easier.
