Veteran forward Matt Barnes will miss the Golden State Warriors last two games of the regular season with an ankle sprain, including the opening stretch of the first round of the NBA playoffs, according to ESPN's Ethan Strauss.

Barnes had a quick exit from Saturday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans in the first quarter and will be kept out of action for precautionary measures until at least the end of the week.

“He's limping a little bit this morning,” said head coach Steve Kerr. “He's not going to play the next two games. It's just a day-to-day thing. It's not a bad sprain, but it's significant enough that he's going to miss the rest of this week and we'll hopefully get him back during the first round.”

Barnes was spotted wearing a walking boot shortly after the injury. Kerr specified that while his injury shouldn't keep him out for a prolonged time, it's hard to pinpoint when due to the nature of the injury.

“I don't know when,” said Kerr. “(Head Medical Trainer) Chelsea (Lane) doesn't think it's a bad one, but he hasn't done anything yet. He's just getting treatment.”

Regarding the rest of the team, the man at the helm did not anticipate any of his stars sitting for the season finale against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, but dropped a hint for who may get a courtesy day off then.

“I would expect most of the guys to play,” Kerr told Connor LeTourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, “but it wouldn’t shock me if maybe Shaun (Livingston) or Andre (Iguodala) did” sit.
