The Boston Celtics are in pursuit of a defensive-minded center.

One player that comes to mind which makes sense for the team is the Dallas Mavericks‘ man in the middle, Andrew Bogut. Many teams including the Celtics will target Bogut if he can be had, but it may not be so easy.

Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports that the Mavericks are not looking to shop Bogut until they see their playoff hopes completely out of reach.

It may be something to consider with a quarter of the season already lost, but they are not yet at that point. Bogut believes the team can salvage its season, but the time is getting short.

Owner Mark Cuban says the team has no plans to tank, but the longer star forward Dirk Nowitzki remains out with an Achilles injury the worse it looks for the team's playoffs chances.

The Mavs would be able to trade Bogut for something of value since he is wanted on the market, but there is no indication from the team that they are willing to do so.
