The New York Mets are on at Great American Ballpark to take on the Cincinnati Reds Friday night. Below we will continue our MLB odds series as we hand out a Mets-Reds prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

The Mets got their first win of the season in game two Thursday afternoon. New York is now 1-5 on the season, so they are off to a slow start. The Mets are batting .173 on the season, so their bats are struggling through the first six games. They have also scored just 13 runs in their six games played. New York does have a 2.37 ERA this season as only 15 of their 26 runs have been earned.

The Reds are 4-2 to begin this season, and they are coming off a series win against the Philadelphia Phillies. They are batting .265 as a team this season, led by Spencer Steer and his .435 batting average. They also have a team .790 OPS. The Reds have a 4.00 ERA to go along with 1.28 WHIP this season, as well.

Jose Quintana will get the ball for the Mets. Hunter Greene is taking the bump for the Reds. As a reminder, this game will be exclusively on Apple TV.

Why The Mets Will Cover The Spread/Win

Jose Quintana had a pretty good start on opening day. He went 4.2 innings, allowed two runs on six hits, and struck out four. Quintana has been a reliable pitcher for the Mets, and he needs to keep it going in this game. In September of 2023, Quintana threw 6.2 innings and allowed just two runs in the game. If he can have another good start against Cincinnati, the Mets will be able to get their second win of the season.

Why The Reds Will Cover The Spread/Win

Hunter Greene has a chance for a great start. In his first start of the season, he struck out seven, but walked four in the Reds loss to the Nationals. The Mets, as mentioned earlier, are really struggling as an offense. They are batting well below .200, so Greene does not have much to worry about. New York has also scored just 13 runs this season. If Greene can just pitch his game, he should be able to shut down the Mets in this one.

Cincinnati needs to knock Quintana out of this game early. The Mets are coming off a double-header, and they used a lot of pitchers in the two games. If the Reds are able to get to the bullpen early in this game, it will not only set them up for success Friday night, but the rest of the weekend, as well.

Final Mets-Reds Prediction & Pick

This is going to be a good game. Quintana is capable of having good starts, but so is Greene. This game is going to come down to if Quintana can go deep into this one. However, the Mets have not been good at the plate, and Greene will take advantage of that. I am going to take the Reds moneyline.
