On the court, Jared Sullinger was a great talent and off the court, he was a guy who didn't act like an NBA basketball player in any way. When he was healthy he showed glimpses of being a player that the Boston Celtics could build around.

He had problems with conditioning and was even charged with domestic violence but those charges were later dropped. Sullinger knows now that he messed up and would do anything to change how he acted off the court.

“I wasn’t an NBA basketball player when I left the gym,” Sullinger told Bob Baptist of The Athletic. “I was still a kid, and I really fucked it up.”

Growing up Sullinger was the youngest in his family and he couldn't ever make decisions for himself. When he was finally able to make his own decisions, he didn't know how to make the right ones.

“It’s not their fault, but growing up I had two older brothers and my dad and my mom, and being the youngest, I never got to tell anybody what to do or be able to write my own passage. For the first time, I got to write my own passage, and instead of going the way I thought it would go, it went the way everyone around me said it would go. And now look at me.

Sullinger is playing in The Basketball Tournament, which is a winner takes all tournament with Sullinger's Ohio State team being one of the favorites. Sullinger said that he is healthy now and doesn't care about the money, he just wants a chance to play basketball again.

“Of course, everybody’s dream is to play in the NBA. Don’t get me wrong,” he said. “But I just want to play basketball somewhere. I’m at that point in my dream. I just want to play basketball and get paid somewhere to be able to play basketball. That’s my main goal. Whether it’s here, there or on the moon, I’m there.”

It's unclear if there is any NBA interest in Sullinger, but expect to see him playing somewhere in the world next season.
