Plenty of teams are in search of a primary or backup point guard this offseason, and DJ Augustin fits the bill for a few clubs. According to Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro, the Phoenix Suns have shown interest in signing Augustin, with the Milwaukee Bucks being another team that has reached out as well.

Augustin fits a different yet significant role for each team. With the Bucks, he could very well see some time alongside Jrue Holiday in the backcourt, allowing both to interchange between being ball handlers. If he ends up with the Suns, he'll come off the bench behind Chris Paul, which could still prove to be a likely destination. At 35, Paul isn't playing the normal amount of minutes that he's become accustomed to during his time in the league, which is likely why the Suns are on the lookout for a viable option off the bench for the 10-time All-Star.

The Bucks recently acquired Holiday in exchange for sending off two of their own guards in Eric Bledsoe and George Hill, which leaves them depleted in the backcourt at the moment. The Bucks may end up selling Augustin on the best deal with playing time being at the top of his list likely.

For Milwaukee, landing another prominent free agent is critical. They failed in being able to trade for Bogdan Bogdanovic from the Sacramento Kings and now face an investigation regarding the discarded transaction. They'll likely still be heavy players in the market, seeing as how the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee depends on it.
