Theo Pinson, 22, signed with the Brooklyn Nets in August, but on Tuesday, Kenny Atkinson confirmed that Pinson will be on a two-way contract, per Mike Scotto of The Athletic. Both of the Nets' two-way contracts are filled after they signed Alan Williams to a two-way deal on Friday.

Two-way contracts are a way for teams to sign younger players who need time in the G League. Players signed to two-way contracts can spend up to 45 days on the NBA roster. Most spend a majority of their time in the G League.

For Pinson, he'll play most of his games for the Long Island Nets. He's a dynamic swingman who comes into the league as an undrafted free agent. While at North Carolina, Pinson helped lead the Tar Heels to a national championship in 2017.

During his senior season, Pinson notched 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. His statistics are indicative of his versatility. Pinson acquitted himself well with the Nets in Las Vegas Summer League. He averaged 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in Vegas.

Most teams use the G League as a way to develop role players who can fill out a rotation. Perhaps the Nets think they can develop Pinson into a productive swingman off the bench. The Nets are on the upswing and are continuing to develop promising young talent. They are hoping Pinson is yet another player to add to their stash.
