Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said that center Adam Henrique has been ruled out for Game 1 of the team's second-round series against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, but there is hope that he can play on Friday in Game 2, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

As a result of Adam Henrique missing Game 1 for the Oilers, Connor Brown will slot into the lineup, according to Friedman.

The Oilers traded for Adam Henrique from the Anaheim Ducks ahead of the deadline this season. He has put up 24 goals with 27 assists for 51 points this season, according to Hockey Reference. In 60 games with the Ducks, Henrique scored 18 goals and dished out 24 assists for 42 points, and in 22 games with the Oilers, he scored six goals with three assists for nine points. The bulk of his production came with the Ducks.

However, Henrique was a main scorer for the Ducks, while with the Oilers, he is down the lineup behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who lead the way. If the Oilers are going to achieve what they want, it will be players like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and their linemates doing the bulk of the scoring. Still, Henrique takes away from the team's depth, which could prove to be crucial in a playoff series.

Henrique played in all five games for the Oilers in the first round against the Los Angeles Kings, recording a goal and assist for two points in the series. Both of those came in Game 1.

This will be a big step up in competition for the Oilers, as the Canucks are one of the better teams in the league. But that does not mean that they are not dealing with significant injuries either.

What to watch for in the Oilers vs Canucks series

Arguably the biggest thing to watch in this series is the Canucks' goaltending. They are down to their third gialie in Arturs Silovs, who had to play in three games. Thatcher Demko was hurt after Game 1, resulting in Casey DeSmith coming in. Then, DeSmith got hurt and that resulted in Arturs Silovs needing to play for the rest of the series.

Despite not being very experienced, Silovs performed very well for the Canucks, posing a .938 save percentage in the series against the Nashville Predators. It will be interesting to see how he handles the high-powered Oilers offense.

It will be worth monitoring Silovs' performance, along with the injury statuses for DeSmith and Thatcher Demko. There are a lot of dynamics at play, but the Canucks could end up changing goalies at some point depending on how the series plays out.

Hopefully for the Oilers, Henrique will be able to return to the lineup for Game 2 on Friday.
