Why The Orioles Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Orioles are fourth in the majors in runs scored while sitting eighth in batting average, 16th in on-base percentage, and first in slugging percentage. Gunnar Henderson has led the way. He is hitting .281 on their with a .346 on-base percentage. He has three doubles, three triples, and ten home runs this year. This has led to Henderson having 24 RBIS and 25 runs scored. Joining him in driving in a lot of runs is Jordan Westburg. Westburg is hitting .301 in the year with a .351 on-base percentage. He has five doubles, a triple, and five home runs. Further, Westburg has 16 runs scored and 19 RBIs. Moreover, Henderson and Westburg have been stealing a lot of bases. Henderson has six stolen bases while Westburg has four.

Also stealing a lot of bases is Cedric Mullins. Mullins is hitting just .214 this year with a .275 on-base percentage. Still, Mullins has two doubles, six home runs, and 17 RBIs. He has stolen six bases and scored 17 times. Also with six home runs this year is Colton Cowser. Cowser is hitting .288 on the year with a .356 on-base percentage. He has six home runs with 18 RBIS while scoring 12 times on the season.

The Oriole's pitching is 11th in the majors in team ERA while sitting fourth in WHIP and tenth in opponent batting average. The Orioles have not named a starting pitcher yet for this game.

Why The Reds Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Reds are ninth in the majors in runs scored this year while sitting 28th in batting average, 26th in on-base percentage, and 17th in slugging percentage.  Elly De La Cruz has been solid this year after a slow start. He is hitting .280 on the year with a .389 on-base percentage. De La Cruz has six doubles, a triple, and eight home runs. He has also stolen 18 bases this year. This has led to 19 RBIs and 27 runs scored. Leading the team in RBIs has been Spencer Steer. He is hitting .252 on the year with a .364 on-base percentage. He has eight doubles, a triple, and four home runs. This has led to 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Jonathan India is having a great week as well. He is hitting .346 this past week with a .393 on-base percentage in his last seven games. He has a home run and a stolen base, but just one run scored. Still, he has six RBIs in the last week.

Reds pitching is 15th in the majors in team ERA while sitting 14th in WHIP and 13th in opponent batting average. It will be Hunter Greene on the mound for the Reds in this one. He is 1-2 on the year with a 3.63 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. Last time out, he went seven innings, giving up no runs, and taking the win. It was the first time this year the Reds have won with him on the mound.

Final Orioles-Reds Prediction & Pick

While the Red's offense has been solid this year, it has not been nearly as good as the Orioles. The Orioles are getting production all through the lineup, and scoring well. They have not scored as much in the series with the Yankees, but the Yankees have a high-quality pitching staff. The Reds are a middle-of-the-road pitching staff. Further, the Orioles bullpen is better, so if the Orioles can get a lead, they will be able to sit on it and get the win. Take the Orioles in this one.
