Why The Pacers Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Pacers' offense has been explosive throughout this series. Amazingly, all of their players have found ways to contribute on offense, helping Indiana advance to the second round.

Pascal Siakam has been the best player after averaging 22.3 points and 8.8 rebounds while shooting 54.3 percent from the floor. Thus, expect him to continue to be the top option for the Pacers to turn to, and likely will go head-to-head with former teammate OG Anunoby. Myles Turner averaged 19.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in the first round. Likewise, he shot 48.2 percent from the floor, including 43.9 percent from the triples. Turner will face off with Isaiah Hartenstein, which will provide a difficult assignment.

Tyrese Haliburton is still the face of the franchise. Significantly, he averaged 16 points and 9.3 assists per game in the series while shooting 43.5 percent from the hardwood. Everyone will have their eyes on the matchup between him and Jalen Brunson. Meanwhile, Andrew Nembhard is another scoring option after averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 59.6 percent against the Bucks. Nembhard is the premiere shooter the Pacers rely on when they need another option.

Obi Toppin is a backup forward/center but is incredibly effective. In fact, he averaged 12.3 points per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the floor against Milwaukee. Aaron Nesmith will be intriguing to watch in this series. Significantly, he averaged 11 points per game while shooting 35.1 percent from the floor. Nesmith will go head-to-head with Josh Hart.

The Pacers will cover the spread if they can continue to stay hot on offense. Then, they need to find ways to slow down Brunson and this red-hot Knicks team.

Why The Knicks Could Cover The Spread/Win

Speaking of Brunson, he is ready for this matchup as he tries to lead the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in over two years. Brunson averaged a ridiculous 35.5 points per game while shooting 42.9 percent in the series against the 76ers. Now, his battle against Haliburton should be a classic.

Hart averaged 16.8 points and 12.3 rebounds per game while shooting only 40.5 percent from the floor. Ultimately, the Knicks will need his shooting to improve and need him to contain Nesmith. Anunoby is probably the main reason why the Knicks have been able to thrive despite losing Julius Randle for the season. Also, he averaged 15 points per game while shooting 51.3 percent from the hardwood against the 76ers. His showdown with Siakam will be special, especially given their history as teammates.

Donte DiVincenzo averaged 12 points per game against the 76ers. However, he also shot 36.4 percent from the floor. Miles McBride averaged 11.3 points per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor. Therefore, he gives the Knicks a great option off the bench when Brunson needs a break. Hartenstein averaged 10.3 points per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. But Turner will be a tough matchup for him.

The Knicks will cover the spread if they can win the board battle. Then, they need Brunson to continue to dominate.

Final Pacers-Knicks Game 1 Prediction & Pick

The Pacers took down one of the best teams in the association. Now, they face a team that has almost no weaknesses. Many believe the Knicks will dominate this game. However, they will have a tough time winning the boards against Siakam and Turner. That may keep this game closer. The only way the Knicks destroy the Pacers is if they can force multiple turnovers and Brunson dominates. We believe Brunson will dominate. Consequently, the Pacers will be able to keep up with them. Knicks win a close one, but the Pacers cover the spread.
