Ray Allen, a two time NBA champion, has had a tremendous impact on the game of basketball with his surreal shooting abilities and leadership on the court.

However, a side of Allen not many knew about was brought out this past Thursday. On December 29, 2016, President Obama named Ray Allen to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. The legendary sharpshooter posted on Instagram his appointment by President Obama to serve on this council.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum even stated Allen's refection on his first visit to the Museum. He remembered how he first experienced racism when his family moved to South Carolina. Those feelings came back when he saw the history the museum exhibited. According to the website, Allen stated:

“But I think the most important thing is communication. That's a powerful, powerful tool, just talking about it and trying to understand it, and learn from it, and grow.”

He has also taken part in the Voices on Antisemitism podcast, while he was with the Boston Celtics, where he voiced his perspective on hatred towards people from various backgrounds.
