The Washington Redskins' three-man battle for the top quarterback spot will probably not be resolved until the end of preseason. Connor Cook will be a fourth quarterback, standing in line behind the top three.

In the first preseason game, the Redskins rolled out Josh Woodrum to finish off the game. With no idea who will start, the plan seemed to be to have a fourth quarterback to play the fourth quarters, keeping the top three signal-callers healthy.

However, Woodrum suffered a torn pectoral muscle and is now done for the year. That means the Redskins are down to just three quarterbacks (Dwayne Haskins, Colt McCoy and Case Keenum).

With that in mind, Washington will likely want to find a new fourth quarterback. That man appears to be Connor Cook.

Connor Cook was drafted back in 2016, a fourth-round pick with decent potential. In three years since being drafted (by the Oakland Raiders), he has played in just one game. Cook completed 14 of 21 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown with one interception.

Those numbers probably don't matter if we're being honest. Cook is likely coming in as a preseason and training camp body, nothing more.

It's unlikely Washington would want to keep four quarterbacks to start the year. Unless there's an injury, Cook is simply here to give them another quarterback for late-game situations.

Of course, that's if Cook is brought aboard in the first place. If the Washington Redskins truly want another quarterback on the roster for (potentially) longer than the preseason, they might want to make sure they do their due diligence and find the right fit.

We'll see if that right fit is Connor Cook.
