The Golden State Warriors will rest forwards Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala for the season finale against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, according to Connor LeTourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Head coach Steve Kerr will try to keep his high-motor players as rested as possible before the NBA playoffs start on Saturday.

“What I’ve found with Draymond is that, if the game is meaningless, so is Draymond,” Kerr said with a chuckle. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. But Draymond needs some stakes. He needs some competition. He needs the game to be meaningful.”

“Last night, there just wasn’t enough competitive fire in the game itself to bring the most out of Draymond. I’d rather give him the night off.”

With the Portland Trail Blazers in near sight, Kerr has been fairly experimental with the team in the last two games, playing a three big men line up on Saturday in a blowout against the New Orleans Pelicans consisting of Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee, and James Michael McAdoo, along with two guards.

Kerr deployed the same lineup again on Monday, but got them some real pressure-cooker action against a Utah Jazz side that led the way down the stretch, instead of plugging his usual starters back in.

Golden State will try to deploy as many different combinations and extended minutes for its role players leading up to the playoffs. With Matt Barnes still out for the week, expect rookie Patrick McCaw to be slotted at small forward and for David West or McAdoo to see extra minutes off the bench as Kevin Durant gets the start at the four.
