The never-ending search for the Sacramento Kings‘ ideal point guard is still going, and it appears this time the team has narrowed its sights in Phoenix Suns point guard Brandon Knight.

According to a report by ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Kings have inquired about Knight's trade availability since the offseason, though Suns GM Ryan McDonough said he had no plans on moving their current sixth man until the Feb. 23 trade deadline.

Sacramento's point guard tandem of Darren Collison and Ty Lawson has brought mixed results at best and have lacked the dynamic that point guards like Rajon Rondo brought to the team last season, given that neither of them have a specific wow factor at any particular skill.

Knight found himself the odd man out in a battle for a starting spot this offseason, as coach Earl Watson opted for the young Kentucky product Devin Booker to start at shooting guard and Eric Bledsoe at point guard, both players flourishing under the high tempo the Suns have played all season long.

A rather young guard at 25 years old, Knight can put up points in a hurry and be a playmaker when given the minutes — his explosiveness and ability to catch fire have been the eye candy of the Kings organization, but they'll have to provide solid building blocks for the cellar-dwelling Suns to move forward with a trade.

Brandon Knight is averaging 13 points on 39 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc along with 2.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists through 24 minutes per game for the 9-21 Suns.
