It's going to be impossible for the Golden State Warriors to replace assistant coach Luke Walton, who is taking off to be the head man with the Los Angeles Lakers after this season. Still, they're going to try.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Warriors met with Portland Trail Blazers assistant Nate Tibbetts earlier today about Golden State's top-assistant vacancy.

Tibbetts, only 39, already has a great reputation around the NBA, and all indications are that he'll eventually become a head coach somewhere in the association.

He's learned under Terry Stotts, who has done a tremendous job in Portland so far. It's unlikely that Tibbetts would earn a promotion with the Blazers any time soon, as Stotts just signed an extension.

Tibbetts also interviewed for the Memphis Grizzlies‘ head coaching position a couple weeks ago.

Before coming to Portland, Tibbetts was with the Cleveland Cavaliers for two years. Before that, he was the head coach of the D-League’s Tulsa 66ers, going 64-41, good for playoff berths in both seasons that he was there.
