Rapper and record label owner Master P surprised many when he recently revealed that he wants to be an assistant coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. Although being part of Alvin Gentry‘s staff may be far from his expertise, he now has a believer that he'll be successful in that role.

No less than seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry said he thinks the rap mogul can be good at it as long as he is ready to start from the bottom. He also pointed out that his experience of being a basketball player in college will help him become an effective assistant coach.

Master P is a legend in the Big Easy as he was born and raised there. He is also proud of his roots and representing the city. More importantly, he is a known supporter of the Pelicans.

The team is currently struggling to win games and are looking like they'll miss out on the playoffs this season. Despite the addition of DeMarcus Cousins to their fold, he has failed to make a huge difference for his new team.

Should Master P ultimately get hired by his hometown team, he might just be what they need to turn their fortunes around. With his stature and knowledge of the game, he may also help in recruiting free agents and increase their chances of becoming a winning franchise in the future.
