After surprisingly getting traded over the summer to the New York Knicks, former MVP and three-time All-Star Derrick Rose was caught off guard and had to move in to his new city immediately.

It's certainly one thing to play for one of the most popular cities in the world and calling Madison Square Garden your home court, but living far from his hometown also has its drawbacks. One of them is during the holiday season when away from family and only left with a few teammates to spend it with.

That's exactly how Rose plans to celebrate his Thanksgiving as he invited himself to join Carmelo Anthony and his family for Thanksgiving night. He talked about how he asked Anthony to join them and what he plans to bring during dinner.

“I just asked where his family’s (going) and asked if it was cool if I came over. He said yeah so I don’t think I have to bring anything but an appetite. Yeah, that’s the only thing I have to bring right now.”

Rose's family and friends are mostly in Chicago, where he grew up. Times like these were not a problem for him the past eight years when he played for his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls. It's a good thing that he will be welcomed by a teammate on one of the most important holidays of the year.

Anthony's gesture is a testament to the bond the Knicks players have been building even off the court. If the chemistry they have with one another could translate to more wins, it will definitely take them one step closer to their goal of making a return trip to the playoffs for the first time in four years.
