Sean Payton is taking the high road after former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall ripped the New Orleans Saints.

Marshall, who currently serves as a football analyst these days, made an appearance on ESPN's “First Take.” While appearing on the show, the former Pro Bowler made his predictions for the upcoming 2020 season. In fact, he predicted the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers will win the NFC North.

However, he also made sure to drive a point home — that the Saints aren't a team built for success. He also went so far to state that their “window is closed.”

“Their window is closed, their window is closed,” Marshall insisted. “Their window is closed, I’m sorry. Did you see what happened to their defense last year? Do you see that everyone in the league has the book on New Orleans’ offense now? Did you see that? It’s over, it’s a wrap.”

Needless to say, Payton responded to Marshall's comments on Twitter, posting a tweet of a “Zoltar” fortune teller machine.

While Payton is laughing off this one, Marshall does have a point. The Saints have excelled in the regular season over the past few years, only to disappoint in the postseason. Despite posting a 13-3 record last season, New Orleans was eliminated at home by the No. 6-seeded Minnesota Vikings.

The Saints also posted a 13-3 record in 2018 before they were eliminated in the NFC Championship Game due to a blown call. In 2017, they were eliminated in the divisional round on a last-second miracle touchdown by the Vikings after winning the NFC South.

New Orleans added established veterans such as Emmanuel Sanders and Malcolm Jenkins. They'll hope the addition of those aforementioned veterans along with the return of Drew Brees will give them better fortunes in 2020.
