It is no secret that the Philadelphia 76ers are near the bottom of the NBA's totem pole. Their reputation as a franchise has been (in recent years) insufficient, to say the least. Fortunately, luck has favored the Sixers in the past few years in dispensing top number picks in the NBA draft.  According to The Undefeated's Marc. J. Spears, per the Sixers:

Sixers believe they have three 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year candidates in Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid & Dario Saric. Embiid in great shape now.

Given the elite class of players that were drafted this year, this statement is no less then bold.

University of Kansas standout Joel Embiid, Croatian star Dario Saric, and the beastly overall 2016 number one pick Ben Simmons have now been granted a spot with the Sixers and their expectations have never been higher to reestablish a culture in Philly. The Rookie of the Year selection is undoubtedly difficult to decipher with all of the potential rookie superstars. Though, in having Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric all on the same team, the chances of the Sixers attaining the 2016-17 NBA Rookie of the Year is entirely believable.

The Sixers have had recent years of misfortune, and applying pressure to these rookies for this honor is unneeded, but can also be possible valid claims. For a team that has been blessed by the basketball gods with players with such potential, the Sixers should take one step at a time with their talented roster and see what comes at the end of the season. With the guidance from the coaching staff and veteran players, success may finally rise upon the city of Philadelphia.

We as fans can hope for awards and recognition for the Sixers, but winning should be the top priority.
