The San Antonio Spurs have been the model of consistency the past two decades, not only in the NBA, but among the four major U.S. sports leagues. They have been one of the most successful professional sports franchises and have reached the playoffs in 20 consecutive seasons.

With the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL snapping their 25-year postseason run on Tuesday, the Spurs now own the longest active streak in the country's top four pro leagues.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are now on top in the NHL with 12, while the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots of the NFL are tied with eight. The Los Angeles Dodgers are leading the MLB with four straight playoff appearances.

San Antonio has consistently found a way to have a competitive lineup each year. This season's roster is typical of what they've had in the past, as it is a mixture of veterans and young players, who are capable of contributing to their cause night in and night out. It also helps that one of the best coaches in NBA history, Gregg Popovich, is calling the shots from the sidelines. He has now been the team's head coach since 1996 and has only missed the postseason once in his illustrious career.

However, their front office also deserves a lot of credit as well for making their run of success possible. They have made the right decisions in helping their team win, and more importantly, have kept their employees, from top to bottom, happy.
