It's never too early to plan for the future.

The two-time reigning MVP, Stephen Curry, will be an unrestricted free agent next summer and the San Antonio Spurs are reportedly already interested in luring him away from the Warriors.

Here's what Ric Bucher said on Bleacher Report Radio:

I think the Spurs are looking at the fact that Kevin Durant came into Golden State and that Kevin Durant may take up some of the superstar space that was previously occupied by Steph Curry… and when Steph Curry becomes a free agent, I think they are going to go hard at Steph Curry.

It's hard to think about Curry's departure now when we haven't even seen yet how good the Warriors are going to be next season with Kevin Durant. It's interesting also that the Spurs are anticipating Durant to take away some of Curry's stardom, essentially suggesting that the two may not coexist together very well.

Durant existed pretty well alongside an even more ball-dominant point guard in Russell Westbrook the past eight seasons. It will be easier for him to play with Curry.

It's going to be a challenge for the Warriors to keep their current team together long-term, especially if Curry and Durant both expect max contracts down the road. Durant can opt out of his deal next summer as well, with the plan being to sign an even greater max deal then. To keep both on maximum contracts, the Warriors may have to sacrifice even more of their role players.

The Spurs are going to be a desired destination for a lot of NBA players for years to come, but right now it's just hard to imagine Curry heading there in the near future.
