Prior to the 2017-18 season, Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver reportedly threatened to fire head coach Earl Watson if Watson didn't let go of Rich Paul as his agent, per Dan Bickley of ArizonaSports.com.

Paul was trying to get the Suns to extend point guard Eric Bledsoe's contract, and things became heated between Sarver and Paul.

The Suns owner told Watson to fire Paul or else Watson would lose his job. The former NBA guard decided not to part ways with Paul, as he couldn't do that to a fellow African American.

Sarver views things a bit differently, claiming he “counseled” Watson to fire Paul because of the agent's “adversarial dealings.”

In the end, Watson was fired three games into the 2017-18 season and Bledsoe was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks after requesting to be dealt. Phoenix proceeded to be awful that season.

The Suns have been a walking disaster for the last decade or so. However, they went 8-0 at Walt Disney World behind Devin Booker, so maybe things are finally trending in the right direction.

The Suns franchise hasn't seen playoff basketball since 2010. Phoenix also took Deandre Ayton with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft over Luka Doncic despite having Luka's Slovenian coach, Igor Kokoskov.

While Ayton is averaging solid numbers of 17.0 points and 10.7 rebounds since getting drafted by the Suns, he's not a superstar like Doncic, and that hurts the Suns since Luka and Booker would have likely been deadly together.
