The NBA has made a change on how their season award winners will be selected.

Unlike in previous years, the league will not allow team-employed media members to cast a vote. This is to avoid them from having conflicts of interest and voting for players of their respective teams, who are essentially their co-workers.

The development comes after Adam Silver announced earlier in the season that the All-Star voting process would be changed to allow some members of the media and the players to have a say in who plays in the annual event.

The winners of MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Most Improved Player, Sixth Man of the Year and Rookie of the Year will be revealed in an awards show in June, which is also another first for the NBA.
