There are pay gaps and there are PAY GAPS. An example of the latter is between coaches John Calipari of Kentucky and Shaheen Holloway of St. Peter's.

On Thursday night, no. 2 St. Peter's made the biggest win of this year's NCAA Tournament so far after escaping no. 15 Kentucky in overtime, 85-79. The Peacocks were an 18.5-point underdog coming into the contest, a huge figure they shattered.

But that's not as huge as the salary discrepancy between Calipari and Holloway, which was brought to light after St. Peter's improbable victory. According to USA Sports' Steve Berkowitz, Holloway got paid over $266,000 in 2019. Calipari, on the other hand, took the bag at $8.5 million this season.

According to our always-accurate math, the pay gap is a lot.

It gets crazier when considering the fact that St. Peter's entire athletics budget is only $7.5 million, as pointed out by SB Nation's Jeff Sharon.

These wild figures only make St. Peter's shocking victory even more impressive, proving once again that an unheralded school can slay a perpetual giant like Kentucky.

Holloway, who starred for Seton Hall, went undrafted in the NBA in 2000. He played for various teams, barnstorming around the world in different leagues until 2007. He then served as an assistant coach at Iona and Seton Hall before getting the top spot at St. Peter's in 2018.

Prior to this year's NCAA Tournament, St. Peter's last appearance was in 2011. With the way things are going, it's only a matter of time until Holloway gets his bag.
