UFC Vegas 92: Edson Barboza vs. Lerone Murphy continues on the main card with a fight in the welterweight division between Themba Gorimbo and Ramiz Brahimaj. Gorimbo has now won back-to-back fights for the first time in his UFC career and will be looking to extend his winning streak this weekend meanwhile, Brahimaj is coming off a long layoff barred by injuries as he looks to get back in there at UFC Vegas 92. With that said, check out our UFC odds series for our Gorimbo-Brahimaj prediction and pick.

Themba Gorimbo (12-4) had a rough UFC debut succumbing to a guillotine choke against AJ Fletcher but he was able to quickly get back on track with back-to-back dominant performances. He most recently blasted Pete Rodriguez into another dimension when he brutally knocked him out in just 32 seconds in his last fight. Gorimbo will be looking to extend his winning streak to three when he takes on Ramiz Brahimaj this weekend at UFC Vegas 92.

Ramiz Brahimaj (10-4) is coming off a 27-month layoff due to injuries that almost had him retire from the sport. Before his injuries, he got a much-needed victory when he submitted Michael Gillmore in round one. He will now be looking to make up for lost time when he takes on the surging Themba Gorimbo this weekend at the UFC Apex.

Why Themba Gorimbo Will Win

Themba Gorimbo got his chance to fight in the UFC after a dominant performance fighting for Fury FC but he ultimately dropped his debut fight losing by second-round guillotine choke to AJ Fletcher. Since that loss, Gorimbo has gotten back on track in a big way with back-to-back victories most recently knocking out Pete Rodriguez in brutal fashion just 32 seconds into the fight. Now, he will be looking to extend his longest winning streak inside the Octagon when he takes on Ramiz Brahimaj this weekend at UFC Vegas 92.

Gorimbo is still a work in progress but he is a very dangerous fighter everywhere this fight takes place. On the feet as we saw in the Rodriguez fight he has deceptive power and his long limbs make it difficult to get inside of the reach of Gorimbo without getting tagged. Also on the ground, Gorimbo has a sneaky good submission game as well with six of his 12 victories coming by submission. Going against a fighter like Brahimaj will be hunting for submissions makes this a fight where Gorimbo knows he can't let Brahimaj get top control and if he can make sure that doesn't happen he should have his way in this matchup whether it be on the feet or on the mat on top to get his third win in a row.

Why Ramiz Brahimaj Will Win

Ramiz Brahimaj looked like a good prospect after his win against Carlos Martinez for LFA back in 2019. That wasn't long-lived when he met Max Griffin in his UFC debut who brutally busted open Brahimaj's cauliflower ear that basically looked like meat hanging off a bone which resulted in a doctor stoppage in round three. Since his debut fight, Brahimaj is just 2-1 and hasn't fought since February 2022 after sustaining a spinal cord injury that was so bad that he was on the verge of retiring from the sport. Brahimaj will be looking to make up for lost time when he takes on Thema Gorimbo this weekend at the UFC Apex.

Brahimaj does his best work on the mat with all 10 of his wins coming by submission. That certainly will be his path to victory in this matchup as Gorimbo has been submitted twice in his career. Gorimbo may not be the most imposing striker Brahimaj has faced he still be better off going for takedowns and getting his grappling game going early and often in this fight. If Brahimaj can avoid a striking affair with Gorimbo and drag this fight to the mat he can notch another submission victory on his resume.

Final Themba Gorimbo-Ramiz Brahimaj Prediction & Pick

This should be an exciting matchup between these two welterweight fighters. The long layoff for Brahimaj due to a spinal cord injury which almost had him retire from the sport is a major red flag more so because he's a grappler who must use his grappling to win this fight. There's a good possibility that he isn't fully healed from this injury and he's just fighting to just try to give it one more chance meanwhile, Gorimbo is peaking at the right time and isn't an easy fight to come back against like Brahimaj had against Michael Gillmore and Sasha Palatnikov.

Ultimately, Brahimaj will be looking to get the takedowns early but Gorimbo will defend them well and will eventually get the finish on the feet or a potential club and sub to extend his winning streak to three.
