According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP, free agent guard Norris Cole has replaced his agent and reached out to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

There is no concrete nor mutual interest involved, and the call was likely exploratory in nature.

The Timberwolves already have a glut of guards on their roster, and that leaves no space or time for Cole to be anything more than a roster filler for the sake of filling a spot.

There are a few teams that need a backup point guard and one team would be perfect, for Cole at least. That would be the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Not only is Cole an Ohio native, but he would be among some familiar faces, like James Jones, Chris Andersen, and LeBron James.

The Cavaliers recently departed ways with their own restricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova, who signed a four year $38.5 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

While the Cavs are not completely devoid of backups, Cole is the one who has the most championship experience with LeBron James and knows what it takes to play a role on a winning team with him at the forefront.

Cole could also bring in the experience inside the locker room, to help deal with the circumstances that come along with a grinding NBA season, especially when working to repeat as a champion.
