Timofey Mozgov got his shining moment at The Quicken Loans Arena last night as he received his championship ring from last year’s title with the Cavaliers.

That would be his lone moment of pride.

Now a member of the Lakers, the seven foot Russian manned the middle against his old teammates in a forgettable 15 minutes on the hardwood. Mozgov had two points, four rebounds, and one steal in 15 minutes as his team lost to the defending champs, 108-119.

In Mark Medina’s article for The Orange County Register, Timofey Mozgov maintained his positive outlook on his young Laker team, while avoiding to revisit his decision this past summer.

Mozgov respectfully declined to revisit his free agency decision that entailed signing a four-year, $64 million deal with the Lakers. But he sounded in high spirits both over his health and playing for the Lakers.

“I like it. We have a young good team and play hard,” said Mozgov, who had only two points and a missed dunk against Cleveland. “We grow up together.”

With less competition at the center spot in Los Angeles, Mozgov has all the time to make his mark for coach Luke Walton. The Lakers also have enough motivation to play him with $64 million invested in their big man.
