Why The Panthers Can Cover/Win

The Panthers are fifth in the UFL in yards this year, sitting second in rushing yards, but sixth in passing. Still, they are third in the UFL in points per game.  EJ Perry and Danny Etling have split time this year at quarterback. Perry has completed 55 of 89 passes, for 664 yards. He has two touchdowns and three interceptions as well. HE did not play last week though, and it looks like it will be Etling from here on out. Danny Etling has completed 41 of 65 passes for 482 yards and two touchdowns, with an interception. Etling also has a touchdown on the ground this year.

Wes Hills has been solid on the ground this year. He has 240 yards on the ground this year with four touchdowns. EJ Perry has four scores on the ground this year while running for 152 yards. Finally, Matthews Colburn II has 157 yards this year and two scores. This gives the Panthers 11 rushing touchdowns this year. Marcus Simms has been great receiving. He has brought in 19 receptions this year for 385 yards and three touchdowns. Trey Quinn also had 18 receptions for 172 yards but has not scored this year.

The Panthers are fifth in yards against per game this year. The Panthers are fourth in points allowed per game this year while sitting second against the run and sixth against the pass. Breeland Speaks has been solid this year. He has six tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks on the year. Kai Nacua has been amazing in coverage. He has three interceptions and six pass breakups on the year.

Why The Defenders Can Cover/Win

The Defenders are sixth in points per game this year. They are sixth in yards per game while sitting fifth in the run and sixth in the pass. Jordan Ta'amu leads the offense this year. He has 1067 yards passing and eight scores. Still, he has thrown five interceptions.  He has also run for 123 yards on the ground but has not scored.

Cam'Ron Harris leads the rushing attack. He has 179 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. In the receiving game, it is Kelvin Harmon. He has 338 yards this year with three scores. Ty Scott has scored as well but has just nine receptions for 175 yards. Still, they are second on the team. Chris Rowland has 149  as well, with two touchdowns the season. Still, he is third on the team in receiving. Alex Ellis is fourth on the team in receiving with just 11 yards.

The Defenders are sixth in points allowed this year while sitting seventh in passing yards allowed and total yards allowed. They are also seventh against the run. On defense, Michael Joseph has been solid. He has six pass breakups this year. Still, the defense has just one interception, which is from Anthoula Kelly. They are getting into the backfield though. Malik Fisher has five sacks and five tackles for a loss.

Final Panthers-Defenders Prediction & Pick

The Panthers have been the better team this year overall.  They score better and move the ball better. Still, the Defenders have improved every week on offense. Jordan Ta'amu is getting sharper each week. The Panthers also have the better defense, but the Defenders are improving their took. They had their first interception last week, and are getting more pressure on the quarterback. Both defenses can give up a fair amount of points though. While neither team scores great, there should be enough points in this game to hit the total. Take the over in this one.
