The 2019 NBA regular season is drawing to a close and the Washington Wizards are out of the playoff race. But on Tuesday, the team announced that they have officially signed guards Jordan McRae and Tarik Phillip.

The pair will join the team for their final game of the season against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, per the Wizards' official Twitter account:

The Wizards originally signed Jordan McRae to a two-way contract prior to the season. The 27-year-old has played 27 games for Washington this season, averaging 5.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in his 12.3 minutes per game.

However, McRae was fantastic this year for Washington's G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. He averaged 30.4 points per game and even scored 54 in one contest. During his hottest stretch of the season, he scored at least 30 points in 10 consecutive games to break a G League record.

Unfortunately, McRae will not be available for Tuesday's game against the Celtics due to an Achilles injury. But he is clearly very deserving of the promotion and could be a key piece for Washington next season.

Tarik Phillip, 25, has not yet made his NBA debut. The shooting guard went undrafted out of West Virginia in 2017 and spent time playing in Europe. Prior to the 2018-19 season, Phillip was signed by the G League Memphis Hustle. Over 48 games, he averaged 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

At 32-49, the Wizards are eliminated from postseason contention. Their Tuesday night opponent, Boston, needs a win to clinch the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. The game begins at 7:00 P.M. EST on TNT.
