Legendary Florida rapper Trick Daddy was spotted at Florida A&M  supporting his son Jayden Young as he graduated from the institution this afternoon. Florida A&M posted a video on Instagram with Trick Daddy speaking about the occasion.

“I came to see my son graduate, you know,” Trick Daddy said in the video. “I wanted to make sure he didn't go the route I went, so. I was just told that in Hollywood they graduate with honors, so that's a good thing, you know. So, FAMU is the blackest thing I ever known, and I thought it'd get no blacker than me, and then I heard about FAMU I definitely wanted my son to graduate from there.”

Florida A&M celebrates as Trick Daddy's son graduates, joining the Rattlers in an eventful day. The university shared groundbreaking news at their Saturday commencement – a historic $237 million donation from Gregory Gerami and the Issac Batterson 7th Family Trust. Florida A&M reported that the $237 million donation exceeds the institution's endowment value ($121 million) and stands as one of the largest single personal contributions to an HBCU.

“To give back to HBCU at this level, it's important to me to be able to choose for our foundation, to be able to choose a university where our legacy will continue and will be the most impactful. For generations and generations to come, that is the most important thing to our foundation and us,” said Gerami in a quote obtained by Florida A&M that was posted to the institution's Twitter/X profile.

The donation was months in the making. According to Florida A&M, Gerami initially contacted Audrey Simmons Smith of the FAMU Office of University Advancement in Fall 2023 to discuss a significant donation. Gerami mentioned that FAMU's mission, and research strengths, particularly in hemp production, are closely related to his company's goals.

Trick Daddy's son's graduation and the significant donation mark a year of positivity for the Rattlers. Florida A&M has achieved great athletic success in various sports, with the football team securing their first SWAC Championship and Celebration Bowl victory.
