Chicago Bears edge rusher Leonard Floyd is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and all the pressure sits squarely on him. Maurice Morton of Bleacher Report wrote an article about the player on the hottest seat for each NFL team. For the Bears, Floyd is his guy.

One of the big issues for Floyd — as Morton points out — is that his production has declined each season, not improved, which is something teams don't want to see.

“The Chicago Bears exercised Leonard Floyd's fifth-year option, but his sack numbers have dropped every year since he entered the league in 2016. He's recorded 7.0, 4.5 and 4.0, respectively.”

The one big positive to come out of last year for Floyd is that he stayed healthy, something that he has struggled to do in the NFL.

Floyd is under contract through the 2020 season because of the option that was picked up with the Bears, but Morton thinks if he doesn't have a big year, the team could draft an edge rusher next year in the first round.

“Despite Chicago's decision to extend Floyd's contract, general manager Ryan Pace may take an edge-rusher early in next year's draft to replace him if he's not a consistent contributor to the pass rush this season.”

A big season could be enough for the Bears to decide that they want to take a chance and offer him an extension. This is a make or break year for Floyd; with every bad week of play, the seat will only get hotter.
