Luke Kuechly unexpectedly announced his retirement from the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday night but that doesn't mean his career in the NFL is over. According to Mike Garafolo, Kuechly is mulling over the idea of becoming a coach or consultant in the NFL.

Kuechly spent eight years with the Panthers and was regarded as arguably the best linebacker in the NFL. In his eight seasons in Carolina, Kuechly produced 1,092 tackles, 75 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and 18 interceptions.

Despite not sharing his reason for retiring, it is believed that Kuechly walked away from football due to the head injuries he suffered. The eight-year veteran missed 10 games in his career due to concussions.

Dating back to his days at Boston College, Kuechly was known to be an intelligent individual. Therefore, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the recently retired linebacker would consider coaching.

Shortly after Kuechly retired, many players exclaimed that he was the smartest player they played with or against. In addition, the former first-round pick was a phenomenal leader in the locker room. Given that, Kuechly would easily command the respect of a locker room as an assistant.

Considering that Kuechly just retired from the Panthers, it's uncertain if he's ready to delve into football again just yet. But there would undoubtedly be teams who'd be more than willing to add him to their coaching staff.

The good news for Kuechly is that he is only 28-years-old as he begins retirement; giving him an endless amount of options. While he won't be making tackles on the field anymore, the future Hall-of-Famer could trade his helmet for a headset in the near future.
