New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Malcom Brown is having a good time with the team so far.

Brown told The New Orleans Advocate's Nathan Brown on June 2 he is “having fun” in Saints defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen's system.

I just love it. It was a defense where I knew I could have fun, and I really like having fun out there on the field, so it seemed very intriguing. It just makes everything easier.

Brown signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Saints on March 14. He is part of New Orleans' new-look defensive line. Sheldon Rankins is still rehabbing from a torn Achilles he suffered during the divisional round against the Philadelphia Eagles.

As for defensive tackle Tyeler Davison, he signed with the Saints' NFC South rivals, the Atlanta Falcons, in free agency. For his part, David Onyemata could miss the Saints' first few games because of a drug citation. Another defensive lineman, Alex Okafor, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, per The New Orleans Advocate.

Enter Brown. According to The New Orleans Advocate, defensive end Cameron Jordan was one of the reasons why he signed with the Saints. Brown said, “He's a very energetic guy.”

Nielsen gushed about Brown and Mario Edwards' work ethic. He told The New Orleans Advocate he's “very excited to have these guys as part of the group.”

The Saints had the NFL's best record last season (13-3). However, they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2018 NFC Championship Game on a controversial missed defensive pass interference call.

Brown, who has two Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots, should help the Saints in their postseason run in 2019.
