Miranda Cosgrove isn't satisfied with how iCarly ended. Paramount+ brought the Nickelodeon series back after years away but shockingly canceled their reboot after three seasons.

However, Cosgrove hasn't given up hope. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of Mother of the Bride, Cosgrove could see a world where iCarly is concluded with a film.

“I had a great experience getting to come back and do it for a few seasons, for sure,” she said. “But I'd love to still be able to wrap up the story in some way.

“Maybe, hopefully, someday, we'll still do it,” Cosgrove continued. “I feel like it would probably be more along the lines of maybe a movie, that would kind of wrap it all up or something like that. So that's what I'm hoping for.”

As for specific storylines Cosgrove wants to pay off, she named Carly's mom as one.

“I want to know who Carly's mother is as much as [fans do]. It seems like a lot of people were hoping to see that,” she said.

Who is Miranda Cosgrove?

Miranda Cosgrove first gained notoriety for playing Megan Parker on Nickelodeon's Drake and Josh. She starred in the series from 2004-07. She would then move on to iCarly and lead that series for several years before returning to it in 2021.

Outside of her Nickelodeon work, Cosgrove is known for her role in the Despicable Me franchise. She voices Margo in the series, the eldest of the kids. The Despicable Me franchise has been one of the biggest ones in Hollywood, grossing over $4.6 billion at the box office cumulatively.

She also made her film debut in Richard Linklater's School of Rock. Cosgrove has also starred in The Intruders, 3022, and North Hollywood. Her latest film, Mother of the Bride, features the likes of Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt.

The iCarly reboot

iCarly originally ran on Nickelodeon from 2007-12. Cosgrove starred in the series alongside Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor, and Noah Munck. Dan Schneider created the series.

But after six seasons, 97 episodes, and two television films, the series came to an end in 2012. The cast would go their separate ways until Paramount+ brought it back in 2021.

This time around, Cosgrove, Trainor, and Kress were joined by newcomers Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett. The revival series takes place nine years after the iCarly series finale in 2012. Carly is now back in Seattle and brings back her web show.

In October 2023, Paramount+ made the shocking decision to cancel iCarly. The news was shocking, especially as it meant that the series ended on a cliffhanger.

While there hasn't been much movement on the series being resurrected or a film being made, there is always hope that iCarly can come back. Cosgrove, the series' lead, seems down, which should bode well for it.
