The Golden State Warriors' 2024 NBA playoff aspirations ended when they lost to the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In tournament. Despite the early loss, star guard Stephen Curry remains a force for the team. He will represent the Warriors in the 2024 Olympic Games on Team USA. However, Curry is making a huge Tahoe golf tournament sacrifice in preparation for the Summer Games.

Curry has opted not to defend his 2023 American Century Championship title so he can focus on basketball preparations with Team USA, per 2 News Nevada. Curry released an elaborate statement to pair with the news.

“I'm disappointed that I won’t be able to defend my title at the American Century Championship in Tahoe this summer, but the chance to represent my country and, hopefully, win an Olympic gold medal the first time at the 2024 Games in Paris is an opportunity that I simply could not pass up,” Curry said.

“I look forward to returning to the shores of Lake Tahoe and creating more memories next July and in subsequent years. In the interim, I know that Dell and Seth will represent the Curry family well in my absence, but if one of them doesn’t come home with another trophy for our mantel, I will be highly disappointed!” Curry added.

Stephen Curry won the 2023 ACC golf title with an incredible eagle putt on the 18th hole of the competition. He faced fierce celebrity competition from pro tennis player Mardy Fish, Dallas Stars forward Joe Pavelski, MLB pitcher Mark Mulder, and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Curry will not be able to repeat his esteemed Tahoe golf title in 2024, but he will join other great company on the Team USA basketball roster.

Warriors' Stephen Curry, Team USA eye gold at 2024 Olympics

Curry joins a stacked Olympic roster that features many talented young and veteran NBA Players. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, and Devin Booker are a few of the squad's members.

Team USA is looking for redemption after their 2023 FIBA World Cup squad came up just short of a bronze medal. The FIBA team lost their runner-up spot 127-118 to a talented Canadian team on September 10th.

The 2024 Olympic squad features talent that has some reminiscing of the USA's prior impressive teams. The United States has dominated the 2000s era with four gold medals in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 and 2004.

Stephen Curry and his teammates are going for gold again in 2024. The Warriors star brings a wealth of experience that should help push USA over the hump.

Curry has won four championships with the Warriors in addition to two MVP awards and several All-Star and All-NBA honors.

The 35-year-old has not missed a beat after finishing his 15th season. Curry led the Warriors to a 46-36 record in 2023-24. He held season averages of 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds, shot 40.8 percent on three-pointers, and nailed 92.3 percent of his free throws.

Curry will not have to carry as much of a load as he does on Golden State given the amount of stars on Team USA. Thus, the Olympic squad should be in good hands as it looks to make another deep run.
