Outside of San Francisco, expectations weren't too high for the 49ers this season. There was some optimism after a dominating opening night victory, but it's been all downhill since.

The Niners have lost their last five games, mostly in convincing fashion. They can't pass the ball, or stop the pass. The run game has its moments, but overall, they're a team in need of fixing at every position group.

Despite their struggles, Chip Kelly isn't worried about his job status. He also isn't too concerned with the rumors that he might jump back to the collegiate game, where he excelled at Oregon with his hurry-up offensive attack.

From Eric Branch of SFGate.com:

“Unless the media has an opportunity for me somewhere,” Kelly joked. “I’ll always explore those opportunities.”

Kelly then provided a direct answer: “I’m not going anywhere.”

Given their talent, it would be stretch to blame Kelly for San Francisco's struggles. He also has a four-year, $24 million contract in place, so job security shouldn't be a concern.

If anything, the 49ers could be the side worried about possibly losing their coach. CBS Sports reports that “several coaches” from the NFL believe Kelly will return to college football after this season. The most prestigious programs with openings could be LSU, Texas, Oregon, and Penn State.

With the comments above, Kelly hopes to put that conversation to rest (for now).
