Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks are looking for a bounce back season in 2023-24. Although Atlanta had a relatively quiet offseason, at least by NBA standards, many are hoping that a full offseason with head coach Quin Snyder will allow Young to unlock different parts of his game, particularly with his movement off of the ball.

Recently, NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN spoke glowingly of the Hawks and their chances entering the new campaign.

“I like the idea of the Hawks,” said Lowe, per the Old Man and the Three podcast. “I just think Quin Snyder is worth like four regular season wins… they're bringing off of the bench Bogdan Bogdanovic, Onyeka Okongwu, Saddiq Bey or Jalen Johnson, and that's before you get into the next wave of guys. The AJ Griffin's. Their top ten is really good… to win in the regular season, that's pretty good.”

The Hawks were the epitome of mediocre in 2022-23, going an even 41-41 and staying within one game of .500 for an NBA record span of games. Trae Young was largely unable to establish synergy with backcourt running mate Dejounte Murray, and the Hawks were dropped off in the first round by the Boston Celtics in six games.

Although Atlanta still figures to be well below the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference hierarchy, fans are hopeful that Snyder's offensive ingenuity will unlock a new dimension of Young's game and help revamp what has been a predictable Atlanta offense in recent years.
