eBay has told TMZ it has blocked the sale of multiple listings for souvenirs handed out at the public memorial of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant last Monday at Staples Center.

The e-commerce company does not allow listings that attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering. Bryant died on Jan. 26 along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash in Southern California.

Following the memorial, several “fans” who attended the memorial tried to sell the souvenirs from absurd prices. In fact, there are others who listed some souvenirs for “Buy It Now” price at $5,000.

However, it is worth noting that eBay does not ban the sale of general Kobe Bryant items that were not from the memorial.

In the immediate aftermath of the helicopter crash, mourning Lakers fans created a Kobe and Gigi memorial outside Staples Center. Every item that was left at the memorial came with a handwritten note. Vanessa Bryant reportedly requested for the items left at the said memorial last January to be sent to her family.

The Lakers retired Bryant’s No. 8 and 24 jerseys last year. The late basketball icon is set to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer as part of an incredible class later this year.

The Lakers currently have the best record in the West. However, nothing would make this season more special than to see LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead the Purple and Gold to the Larry O’Brien Trophy come June. Both players were close with Bryant and his passing will undoubtedly motivate them to win it all this year.

A lot of players around the league have changed their jerseys numbers to honor Kobe Bryant. A number of other players are keeping their No. 8 or No. 24 in order to pay tribute to Kobe, such as Chicago Bulls players Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen.
