This season started with the Los Angeles Lakers turning a lot of heads with their unexpected start by having a winning record through 10 games, but since then, they have struggled getting wins and have only won three of their last 18 games to give them a 13-25 win-loss slate for the season so far.

Given the predicament they're in, many believe that the best thing to do is to acquire a big name player from the trade market. The belief grew even more when Larry Nance Jr. suffered an injury and will likely be out for the next four weeks.

However, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak spoke last week and remained uncertain if the team will look to sign a frontcourt player to add depth to their rotation and try to turn their fortune around.

“There’s a lot to consider. A big part is Larry’s condition going forward. At first, we thought it was an ACL and he could be out for the season. But knock on wood, it’s a bone bruise and he seems to be getting better quickly.”

Just recently, more news surfaced that the Lakers are not interested in trading any of their young players as they already see this season as a success with the growth and maturity they have shown.

With still over a month to go before the trade deadline, it will be worth monitoring if the Lakers top brass will change their minds about winning in the present and go after one of the league's stars. Should they be successful in adding one to their promising lineup, they will give themselves a huge chance of still making the playoffs this season and even surprise many if they go on to complete an upset against the higher seeds in the Western Conference.
