After eight seasons under the tutelage of former head coach Phil JacksonLuke Walton, now the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in his own right, has learned the ins and outs of the Zen Master, but some things still remain a mystery.

The president of the New York Knicks recently had some sharp comments about his star forward, Carmelo Anthony, saying he held on to the ball on offense for longer than he'd prefer. Despite the two having hashed it out during a one-on-one meeting last week, Walton isn't surprised by his former coach's words.

“He’s been saying stuff that gets people upset since I’ve known him,’’ Walton told Marc Berman of the New York Post. “It doesn’t surprise me. I wish I knew [why he does it].”

Jackson has been a rather odd individual ever since coming into the league in the late 80s, but he's had a method to his madness, which has directly translated into 11 championship rings, the most of all-time by a coach.

“Phil’s a unique individual that does a lot of things people don’t understand, but he normally has a pretty good reason and purpose behind stuff,” added Walton.

While it's still yet to materialize into wins for his Knicks, Jackson's quick-witted approach has proven to find results in his new stint as president. Whether his team has the stomach to handle it, it's another thing to be seen.
