The Carolina Panthers traded for ex-Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson recently in a move that led to a surprised take from the talented wide receiver. Now, Johnson is hyping up Bryce Young, his new signal caller and the former number one overall pick out of Alabama.

Last year's rookie season was one of unrequited promise for the young quarterback, but Johnson remains bullish on the highly talented and highly accurate passer, judging by his recent comments.

Johnson's words came as Carolina signed Derrick Johnson to a contract extension worth nearly $100 million. Panthers veteran holdover Adam Thielen also sounded off on why he believes Young had ‘no chance' to succeed big as a rookie.

Now, Diontae Johnson's comments are being revealed, showing the extent of his belief in Young's pending success.

Dionate Johnson's Thoughts on Bryce Young Revealed

Diontae Johnson has gone through tape of Young and came away impressed, according to a new ESPN report.

“He's accurate, smart,” Johnson said. “This is what I've seen from watching his tape. A great player. Can make plays. Can make any throw on the field. I'm here to make him better…Help him grow.”

Last season, Johnson caught 51 passes on 87 targets for 717 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Stats-wise, it was a far cry from his 1,000 plus yard 2021 season, during which he also hauled in 8 touchdowns, but it was still a successful season for a Steelers team that lacked talent at the quarterback position.

Now with Young, Thielen, Johnson and others in the mix for the Panthers, the sky is the limit for what could be a rising offensive team in the Tar Heel State.

Panthers' Draft Day Looming

The Panthers have four picks from rounds two to four in the 2024 NFL Draft starting this weekend, and three of those picks are near the top of those rounds.

Carolina and Coach Dave Canales will be on the hunt for diamonds in the rough and Adonai Mitchell, a wide receiver from Texas with a world of potential, is one of them. Mitchell is just one of several NFL Draft sleepers the Panthers may target.

Coach Dave Canales and the Panthers might not go from one of the worst teams in the league to the penthouse overnight, but with Young in uniform and several key players like Johnson and Adam Thielen willing to rally around him, they do have the makings of a special season, if Young and his teammates live up to the hype, of course.
