The New England Patriots are coming off their fifth Super Bowl title with superstar quarterback Tom Brady under center. Although the Patriots have their fair share of die-hard fans, they've got a lot of haters with Boston Celtics newcomer Gordon Hayward apparently among them.

According to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England, Brady reached out to Hayward via text to welcome him to Boston after he joined the Celtics in NBA free agency. A valiant effort to try to convert Hayward, but he's sticking to supporting his Indianapolis Colts.

Hayward was recently asked about the Patriots and Brady during his introductory press conference with the Celtics and he had no problem reminding people of his NFL allegiance, via David Woods of the Indy Star.

“I’m a Colts fan, so I can’t stand him just because he plays for the Patriots. I think he’s a good quarterback. Loyalty, right?”

Unfortunately for Hayward, the Patriots are expected to be legitimate Super Bowl title contenders once again while the Colts are simply hoping to have Andrew Luck on the gridiron for the majority of the 2017 NFL season.

As for the Celtics, Hayward is considered to be a considerable upgrade for the team that was the top seed in the Eastern Conference last season. Despite Hayward's loyalty to the Colts rather than the Patriots, the perennial All-Star will likely become a fan favorite in Boston while playing alongside fellow newcomer Kyrie Irving.
