For much of the NFL offseason, the bulk of the attention with the Indianapolis Colts has been on Andrew Luck's recovery from shoulder surgery.

Luck took another step forward as Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the star quarterback has been taken off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after he passed his physical on Saturday.

This was an expected move because had the Colts had not removed the PUP list prior to 4 p.m. on Saturday Luck would have been forced to miss the first six weeks of the regular season. That said, there still isn't a timetable to when Luck will make his return to the field.

There is also more of a cloud over his health after the Colts on Saturday traded wide receiver Phillip Dorsett to the New England Patriots in exchange for quarterback Jacoby Brissett. At this current juncture, it is unlikely that he will be ready to play in the season opener on Sept. 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.

The next step in Luck's recovery is getting back on the practice field to work out the kinks after missing the entire offseason due to shoulder surgery. If there is any silver lining, the Colts are at least optimistic that he will be back in the fold in the first month and a half of the season.
