The Pittsburgh Steelers have not been shy about making moves this offseason. The team has replaced coaches, entire position groups, and players at every level of the team in an effort to improve. Pittsburgh just signed a veteran wide receiver who new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is sure to love.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Steelers are signing former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Scotty Miller to a one-year contract. Miller reunites with Arthur Smith, who was his head coach with the Falcons.

Arthur Smith is the new offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was previously the head coach for the Atlanta Falcons and is very familiar with Scotty Miller.

During the 2023 season, Miller logged 11 receptions for 161 receiving yards and two TDs in 17 games with the Falcons. This is pretty efficient considering he only drew 16 targets the entire season.

Before Atlanta, Miller spent four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Miller was drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Bowling Green. He contributed as a role player during Tom Brady's short stint with the Buccaneers, including their Super Bowl victory during the 2020 season. That 2020 season was Miller's most productive — he hauled in 33 catches for 501 receiving yards and three TDs.

Miller has struggled with a couple of injuries throughout his short NFL career. He missed 13 total games due to injury in the 2019 and 2021 seasons.

Scotty Miller is no lock to make the final roster. He will be competing with other veterans like Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins, as well as third-year player Calvin Austin III for a roster spot as wide receiver insurance.

It is easier to list what hasn't changed on the Pittsburgh Steelers offense from 2023 to 2024. The running back room is one of the only position groups on offense that didn't get a major overhaul.

To start, Arthur Smith replaces Matt Canada as offensive coordinator. The Steelers will likely run an offense in 2024 that is reminiscent of the 2023 Atlanta Falcons. There will be new wrinkles because of different personnel, but the overall approach will likely be the same.

Next came the quarterbacks. Pittsburgh flushed out all three QBs who took snaps in 2023 (Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Mitchell Trubisky) and replaced them with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. It's easy to view Wilson as the entrenched starter for Week 1 who will be viewed as a bridge to installing Fields later in the season.

The Steelers have retooled at wide receiver well beyond adding Scotty Miller. Diontae Johnson was traded to the Panthers for a draft pick, paving the way for George Pickens to become the number one guy. The Steelers added Roman Wilson in the draft and brought in several veterans to flesh out the room.

Finally, the offensive line has received a huge makeover. Pittsburgh drafted three offensive lineman in the 2024 NFL Draft who are projected to make up the entire left side of the line: tackle Troy Fautanu, guard Mason McCormick, and center Zach Frazier. If all three picks work out, the Steelers will have a young and cheap offensive line for the next several years.

That is a lot of change. It will be interesting to see how the players mesh together as the regular season progresses.
