Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is having the best month of his professional basketball career to date. So much so that he has been mentioned in the same sentence with the likes of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Karl-Anthony Towns, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic.

The son of five-time All-Star Tim Hardaway has accomplished this unlikely feat by averaging at least 19 points per game while shooting above 50 percent from the field for the month of March. The five aforementioned stars are the only other players in the league that share this impressive statistic with Hardaway Jr..

In 12 contests played this month, Hardaway has been on a tear averaging 19.2 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.3 3-pointers per outing with a 50.6 percent field-goal percentage. To say that he is on a hot streak would be an understatement as he has upped his averages this month from 14.1 points and 45.6 percent shooting throughout the year.

Unfortunately this has not translated well for the Hawks as they have won just four out of the 12 games played in March, losing their last five.

The team currently sits fifth in the Eastern Conference, but is quickly losing steam. The Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers are now just one game behind them while the eighth-seeded Miami Heat sit two games back.

The Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, and Charlotte Hornets are the three other teams in the East that are still in serious contention for playoff spots and the Hawks will need to be at their best to fend off all challengers.

Hopefully Tim Hardaway Jr. can keep up his inspired play to give his team the best chance of success in both the regular and postseason.
